Capt. Matt Garth served in the US Navy as chief of air operations on board the USS Yorktown (CV-5). After the Japanese aircraft carriers IJN Kaga, IJN Akagi, and IJN Soryu have been taken out. Torpedo and dive bombers from the IJN Hiryu attacked the Yorktown. Until she was sank by two torpedoes from a Japanese submarine.
