Placed in a modern world, chalk full of magic, 16 year old Norah Rowe is being set up to claim the position as Lady, replacing her parents in the Fae Court. Her father has betrothed her to a man she believes she has already met while simultaneously attempting to hunt down the clues that her mother left for her before fleeing the country. The Festival of Lights is approaching and with that comes promises and threats that could end or save the lives of many. Secrets dwell in the hearts of all creatures

This is a short story I'm working on, I hope you enjoy! (It has nothing to do with the book that I am writing, this is just to keep my creative juices flowing and de-stress. It also gives me something to write when I'm struggling through my book or need a break and I thought it would be cool to have something that you guys can read as well and get a taste for my kind of writing). Love you all!

For the fae, magic is everything: status, power, wealth, honor. For Vera Reite, a fae born with no magic, it is a shameful reminder that she will never amount to anything. Whispers of a fae-killing monster begin to circulate the Moon Court. It lurks in the woods, feeding off the mana of its victims. Those that go missing and find themselves at the mercy of the beast are never seen or heard from again. Fear quickly takes hold of the fae court; it's only a matter of time before their whole world is destroyed by this creature. However, it offers Vera a glimmer of hope. When she learns of it, she ventures into the wood to kill the beast, believing that she will be able to absorb the magic it has stolen. But the woods are as dangerous as the beast, and Vera soon finds herself lost. In a stroke of luck, she comes across an old manor deep in the forest where a strange boy is sealed away. If Vera wishes to slay the beast, she will first have to uncover the secret of the manor and its prisoner before it's too late. 𝐀 𝐟𝐚𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜. 𝐀 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭. Our female lead Norah had a horrible life, she was abused and abandoned at a young age. She was never loved by those who was to be her family (except for her grandparents). She was engaged to the crown prince Ryan, but was let down by him multiple times. When sent to war she thought she would have him upon return, but he was already married to her younger sister. To make matters worse she was sent to prison for treason. The day of her execution her younger sister Ramona visited her. She came to mock Norah for being gullible and reveal her and the crown prince conspired against her. To hear all this, the little will that was left of her was gone and she was filled with rage and sadness. When brought to the guillotine she shouted her curses to the whole empire and imperial family. The blade fell and she took her last breath but that doesn't mean her story end there. By a miracle she regressed to her 17-year-old self. Now she plans to get revenge on the empire and destroy it beyond measures. And nothing will stop her.
