Colors

She was fine on her own.

But maybe she didn't want to be fine anymore.

Maybe she wanted to feel alive.

Laila Khare: a senior in high school with a pretty good life albeit it lacked any emotion and excitement. She was about to learn how tough life could really get for some people: mental health struggles, immigration issues, genetic differences, and loss were just some of life's many problems.

And then she ran into Jai Patel: the infuriatingly observant and hot Gujju boy who just moved in down the street. Laila was about to see just how much color she was lacking in her life before him.

Jai was entitled to his own secrets and struggles, however big or small they may be. But maybe he didn't want to keep secrets anymore. Maybe he wanted to show everyone all of his perfect, stunning flaws.

Maybe he just needed someone to trust. Something insignificant to one person could be someone else's whole existence.

He sure as hell wasn't perfect, but Laila didn't need perfect.

She just needed him to open her eyes to all of colors of life, even when he had trouble seeing them himself.
