Percy got a Hypno ring. He changed peoples personalities and got Nico to like him again. This ring was more powerful than any regular one. It could hypnotize a primordial. So he decided to change things up. He needed support and no one gave it to him. He knew he needed it so he uses the ring to help himself. He wasn't planning on destroying or killing anyone but he didn't want to be with Annabeth anymore. He wanted something different.
