in 1990, three white supremacist gang members steal a crate of South African gold coins from an armored car in the Arizona desert. The crate is buried in a pecan orchard, but the only surviving heister is captured and sent to prison. In 2010, the robber and five other parolees are blackmailed by their parole officer and his brother, a crooked sheriff's deputy, into helping to unearth the gold. In the intervening 20 years, the orchard has become a housing development (half-completed and mostly empty at the height of the housing crisis), and the house the crate is buried behind has been rented by another outfit working an illicit marijuana growing operation. The parolees, the Aryan Front, the Mexican mobster who originally owned the Krugerrands, a Russian narco-gang and several police agencies all end up on a collision course to... The Orchard.
