Winter had always seemed so untainted; the sparkling white powder that lay upon the ground like sheets glistened with purity. At winter’s departure the beauty underneath the melting snow would shine and the wonderful mysteries would be revealed. Darkness seemed to be forbidden from the light of new life that the ending of winter brought. At least, that is what I had always believed to be true.

My name is Harper Sophia James and I was murdered on March 19, 2012.

At the end of one of the most beautiful winters I had seen, my life was taken from me in an abandoned house deep in the woods. After escaping an endless, emotionless pit of darkness, I found myself stuck in the house where I lost everything. Invisible to the world, I thought I was destined to haunt the walls of this home for the rest of my ghost like existence.

Nearly three years later I met the one person who could see. With another winter’s end coming I was determined to unveil the mystery of my murder because I was more than just winters ghost.

12 parts Complete
While her best friend Cassidy snacks on brie and boys in France, Darcy Li-Quinn must face her last year of high school and the unpredictable wrath of her sister, Danica, alone. Darcy's plan for dealing with Danica and her heinous friends is simple-be invisible. But first, she's promised Cassidy she'll do 'one brave thing'. Mustering the courage to say 'hi' to the cute boy on the bus, Darcy expects rejection or indifference. She doesn't anticipate a grumpy ghost with unfinished business who needs her help. Suddenly, a quiet year of flying under the radar looks increasingly unlikely. *** Rationally, Hunter Viera knows that his brother's death wasn't his fault. But that doesn't stop his guilt about Archer invading his every thought or lessen the grief sitting heavy in his chest. Changing schools offers a fresh start, and Hunter's plan is simple-be invisible. But he hasn't counted on Darcy, or her ludicrous claim that Archer speaks to her from beyond the grave. Suddenly, a quiet year of sitting on the sidelines looks increasingly unlikely. *** This is a story about hearts and hope and public transport. This is Darcy and Hunter's story (and a little bit Archer's too). *** 'Get A Life' is my entry for Open Novella Contest 2023 and is inspired by the following prompts. 20. You finally build enough courage to talk to that cute someone you see every day on the bus. Their face turns dark as they respond "You shouldn't be able to see me." 9. There's an urban legend that's been circulating for years about a taxi cab that doesn't take you where you want to go, but where you need to go. One night, you stepped into this cab.

Delilah "Del" Cross went into the woods with the express purpose of never coming back out. However, death was interested in someone else that night. Del finds a murdered young woman, who soon rises from the dead as a zombie. Del is brought into a very special community living in happy isolation within the beautiful Whisper Valley. There creatures of myth and legend live together in harmony, following a strict set of rules that allow them to be who they are but also enjoy modern amenities like a steady Wifi connection and the latest smartphone. They all just want a normal life that's free from persecution by humans. For them, humans are instead seen as a commodity. Specifically they're known as the "Bodies" and they all have one year to either be sponsored or converted by one of the town's supernatural citizens. Del fills the vacancy left by the corpse in the woods, Calista Nightgrave. Calista should have been the next bride to a wealthy vampire, but instead she is a lowly zombie that's furious over the shift in her immortal afterlife. *COMPLETED* Annalise(Ann) had a simple life. A loving family, and a roof over her head. But when that is taken away, when the king and his men destroy her village and take her life away. She is thrown into a life of servitude to the king. But What happens when the king develops a deep desire for her? Will she fall in love with the merciless King? 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒕: I hear the king get up from his seat and start walking over to me. I see his shoes come into my line of vision. My senses are clouded by his strong scent of cedarwood. I refuse to look up at him. He gives off an aura that is dark and intimidating. My eyes begin to swell with tears at the thought that I will end up like the man before me. "Look at me," he commands in a deep voice. I refuse. He commands again this time more cynical, "Look. at. me!" His voice booms off the walls, echoing in the room. I flinch at the tone but still refuse. Then suddenly, he roughly raised my chin. My eyes meet his cold blue ones. His eyes seem to soften for a moment then quickly return to their cold state. He muttered something under his breath that I didn't catch. He lets go of my chin and walks around, scanning me with his eyes. "What am I to do with you?" He mutters to himself. After a few moments, he is back in front of me. He smirks, "I will make you my personal chambermaid." CONTINUE THE STORY INSIDE... "It took me five seconds to fall. The impact on my chest jarring my body but not my mind. I suppose this is the point where your life is supposed to flash before your eyes as time itself freezes - and it did in a way. But I didn't relive my life physically like walking through an old memory, déjà vu in each step. It was a feeling, something that started in my chest and spread to my fingertips, one so unique to me that it encapsulated each significant event into one single second." For as long as May can remember one mystery has haunted her world. A dirty window before her, the grim obstructing her vision, she has lived with a loss she can't identify - that is until one rainy night. Gradually the spots of dirt May scratched at for so long wipe away with the touch of a finger. But when she looks in will she like what she sees - or will curiosity kill the cat?
