Shrek and Fiona had fallen out of love over the years, the kids are now 5. Fiona had left with the kids to live with her mother after they had decided it was best for the best.
Shrek has been lonely sense the kids aren't around anymore, only seeing them on weekends. So he decided to clone himself to kill his lonely ness, and little did he know this would have sparked a great romance.
