Darkness is slowly enveloping the world, originating from a place only known through rumors of the past, darkness born of jealousy, contempt, and anger. An insidious plot to dominate all life is in motion, and a tyrannical ruler with cruelty unmatched by any other is at its head. Such things are merely fantasies, only tales told to hatchlings to scare them into behaving lest they be taken by the monsters of the dark. Or is it?
A duo of saviors in the most unlikely of forms seem to be the only ones capable of pushing back the consuming darkness, but does the world deserve these "heroes?" Dragonkind must find a way to redeem themselves in the eyes of their last hope before time runs out, or watch the world burn around them.

Words are thrown and things are said that neither of them mean, but it ends with Thora leaving with Nightstar for a night flight. It's a world where Thora was never born, and it's much worse than she could've ever imagined. In this world, Hiccup and Toothless perished with Alrek's attack. In this world, the dragons were transformed into heartless demons with blood-red eyes. In this world, Thora's friends are cold and indifferent to one another.
