It was once said that a crow could bless the body of a deceased, returning their soul to their body. The crow gave them a second chance, but at a price. The crow's own soul would bind with the deceased's and they would become one, the resurrected now being able to turn into an overly large, ethereal crow. If the crow had been powerful, the resurrected could switch between their crow and a normal crow. But legend also says that the only crows known to be able to do this were hunted, tried for witchcraft, and found guilty. These crows, as we call them, were really an entire race of magickal beings, wiped out entirely because of superstition. ___________________________________________ The realm of Rowathi was literally created by the crows. The land imbued with their magick, they created the other bird species. But the crows could not imbue their own magick into their avian counterparts. And thus, the crows had the ability to create life, and take it away. They ruled over the avian kingdom, their power respected and revered. All corvids had the power to create. But not on the scale that the crows were. An unkindness had started a revolt amongst the corvids, creating unease throughout the avian settlements. And then, the Queen was dethroned, the entire crow line eradicated, or so they thought. Nowadays, if someone sees a crow, they report to the Ravens, an elite line of warriors sent out to eradicate any thought of a crow. But the crows have adapted to hide their wings... to mimic other species. And so a revolt shall begin, a war will ensue, but can the crows take back what's rightfully theirs?

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope). Cover created by the most excellent @apprehensiveanne. It's very cool.
