Rachel Adgate sees the world as an imposter. She sets her own rule in order to avoid any conflicts at school or getting hurt by the people she loves. But when a new boy moves into the house across the street, her boundaries is slowly breaking. Will she ever let him in?
Disclaimer: This is the first story I publish publicly. It won't be as good as any talented writers here but I'm honored trying things out of my comfort zone. This story is inspired by the true events of my life. Although, I will add a fiction scene in it to make it more novel-like or interesting. I may not be so good at writing so be easy with the comments. Overall, please do give this a read. I will write more in the future if this turned out well.

Evie was the wild child of the bunch. She was always everywhere and doing everything, all so she could pour it into her writing. Being a writer was the dream she held since she was a child, but to be the best, she needed to make a name for herself. However the local scholarships were not enough to cover the costs of attending her dream school. Evie was determined to find a way to pay for her education, but she was running out of options. That was, until West came back. West was a childhood friend. They used to play together when they were kids, but as they grew older, they drifted apart and lost touch. It's been a couple of years since they had last seen each other, and when West randomly needed to stay at Evie's house for a few weeks, she wasn't sure what to expect. They each needed a plan to get what they wanted, and they each had what the other needed. It seemed like a win-win situation for both of them. Easton King has had a hard life. His parents abandoned him as a toddler and he's been from home to home for as long as he can remember. Nobody seems to want him, they just keep him for a little and eventually they all throw him away to be somebody else's problem. Because of this, he has never been close to anyone. He's learned from a young age that he can't trust anybody to stick with him. Don't get me wrong, he still has friends. In fact, Easton is one of the most popular boys in school. No one knows about his home life because he never talks about it and never hangs out with people outside of school. Derek Danvers (his friends jokingly call him DeeDee) has had a better life. He lives with his family and they are loving and decently forgiving like most parents are. He has suffered from depression and anxiety but not nearly as severely as Easton. He lives his life one day at a time and he doesn't depend on his friends but he trusts that they'll stay by his side, and if they don't then it's for the best. They didn't deserve him. Everyone in the school knows Easton puts up walls. No one gets within two or three feet of him, no one asks about his home life, and no one asks if they can go to his house or if he can go to theirs. Katelyn has been in and out of the foster system since her mother died when she was young. After her father gets put in jail again, she gets sent to live with the Thomas family. The Thomas's are a very well-off family with four boys. Their house is usually the main hangout for the boys and their friends. Kate hasn't ever lived with siblings before, let alone this many boys, so it's a big change for her. Daniel is your typical high school football player; he's got the looks, the muscles, talent, and even the overbearing dad who wants him to go pro. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own. At least not anymore. He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in. How will things change for them over the next year? This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order. Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years.
