Finch has been in the refuge for years, making friends where she can and trying to survive on little to no food and a beating almost every day. It's not the best 'home', you can't even really call it that, but at least she's not alone. However, when her best friend gets sick, she soon finds herself escaping the refuge to find medicine, making new friends, and joining a strike. Will she make it through this crazy new experience?

She soon realizes however that the great Newsies strike of 1889 wasn't everything it was said to be, promises are still being broken and amends and justice to the Newsies were never truly served. Can she save the Newsies and keep her true identity a secret? Or will a developing fancy for Jack Kelly the great ruin her once and for all?

Jack's eyes widened too as he and Crutchie got a glimpse of their brother's face. Crutchie's face turned red with anger, his hand clenching his crutch tightly. "Who did this to you?" *** It's a month after the strike, and everything is going great... until it's not. It starts with small arguments with newsies from the other boroughs, and only gets worse.
