It's poetic and symbolic how in spite of a world wide pandemic and lock down we always found each other and healed each others sadness. It wasn't my sobriety that I was scared to lose. It was ruining the friendship and not having it mean a thing to you!

His laugh, his smile, his eyes, and his last words. Oh god his last words were the saddest things I've ever heard, but he meant them, I know he did. Three words, eight letters, and it was all the truth, but the truth hurts so much. "I love you." Those words will never have the same meaning. Because they'll be my last memory of him. ----------------------------------- It was just a simple mission, no one was supposed to get hurt. They had done it plenty of times before. So why did it go so wrong? And why did take him? -------------------------------------- The pain, the tears, the silence, it seemed to never stop. Everything reminded them of him, no matter what it was, it was all him. Only one of them had felt the worst of it, because he was his everything, and losing him felt like the world had ended. He was gone, he wasn't returning from that mission. Until he did. ------------------------------- Blank, unknowing, confused, not like they remembered him. Not how he was in their fondest memories. He was there, but wasn't . When he was gone, they only had a memory, but when he returned, it was like he never had. Maybe that's all he'll ever be, a memory.

They said heaven was the right kind of crowded, and dusty, and soft. They said it would smell of roses and clouds, they said it would melt every part of my body into one. They called heaven beautiful, they called it enough. They said the glass in heaven's windows would be thick, coloured, and like a lens through which you saw the world. They said I would be a being of light, they called the writings we were to make beautiful. The people that said this spent millennia trying to chase the feeling of sweet tenderness, but they chased it in things that were never meant to be more than sculptures and scriptures. They didn't say heaven would feel so... homely.

Two souls found each other in a broken frame. One made the other more mature and strong, the other made became open and vulnerably emotional. No matter what happen, they always find their way back together. They've come to understand each other in ways that no one else does. And a heart has so much power within its tenderness.

This little book was written to honour the amazing life of a beloved family dog. Rocky turned out to be more than just a dog, but that's how all families feel about their lovely canine friends. But then Rocky slowed down, and a bit later he slipped away. So this little book was written to try to capture the emotions felt at the passing of this great soul. But we still feel him here, guiding us and loving us, because that's what great dogs do.
