Hatori Yoshiyuki knew he wasn't going to make till 28 years old.
He was in a constant state of agony and turmoil both physically and emotionally. Those damnned flowers growing inside his lungs, each cough and hack that would escape him.
Mentally, he was in constant turmoil. The very existence of his childhood friend/crush Yoshino Chiaki was the cause of those flower petals. Any rational person would have just distanced themselves away from them but their covalent bond says otherwise. Time after time he would try to distance himself away from Chiaki only for the guilt to eat at him alive. It was a constant cycle.
He loved him. He loved him with every aspect of his being. And that love can and will be the death of him.

They cough up blood and petals until they find new love or get surgery. Some even let the petals worsen. The longer you have Hanahaki, the worse the petals are. If you get the surgery, it removes all emotions so you would feel nothing. Eijiro is head over heels in love with Katsuki but Katsuki doesn't return his feelings. Eijiro develops a disease called Hanahaki (see above) and this story is about his recovery and what recovery he will choose. Will he try to find new love? Hanahaki is a disease where the affected coughs up the favorite flowers of the one they love, left untreated it can kill in a matter of weeks, you can get a surgery to remove the root, however you will forget everything about your loved one, or never feel love again. More commonly people let it kill them, but this can be avoided by confessing, however if you get rejected, the condition will progress faster and surgery will no longer be an option. The cough will start with a few petals, then progress to the entire flower head, after that a bit of blood, and finally, the entire flower with the stem and blood. If it gets to that point, you likely have days to live. The condition progresses faster or slower depending on how long the love has existed and how strong it is. Some of the warning signs for the disease are high unexplainable fevers along with harsh coughing fits and trouble breathing, these symptoms only occur for the worst cases however, so not everyone will have warning signs. "Great" Asahi sighed with his head in his hands. "Just what I needed." When Asahi gets sick and doesn't recover it's up to him and a few others to figure out what to do before it's too late, only, he has a secret he doesn't want them to know. Some say secrets can kill, but this time it's far too real. (Disclaimer!!! Idk if this will end up being finished but i have the plot mapped out, so if it does get abandoned, i can tell you about the ending if you want.)
