“I can’t pull you into this, Ann, I’m in too deep, and they’re not going to stop until they get what they want.”
“Reid, please.. I’ll be fine, I can handle myself, just please don’t go. You’re all I have left, everyone else has left me! You can’t leave!” I furiously let out, standing to my feet.
“My flight leaves at eight, so I need to get going.. I just had to say goodbye. If you know what’s good for you, Ann, you’ll just leave it. Don’t look for me, don’t try to contact me.. This is too dangerous for you now, and I can’t pull you into it any farther.”
“Don’t you dare walk away, Reid. You promised me, you swore you’d never leave like everyone else!”
By now tears were rolling down my cheeks and I was holding onto his shirt like it was my life support.
It was kind of true, though. Reid Daniels was my life support; he had been since the day I met him after the accident.
“I’m sorry, Ann.”
And with that last sentence he gently pulls my fists from his shirt and turns around, walking out the door.
