Everything looked different, though not one this had changed. I was still me. I was still the best goalie on our high school soccer team. I was still number four in my class of 257 kids. I was still younger than my brother by a year. I was still popular.
So what changed?
This had changed.
I fell in love. Not with someone you'd expect... she not tall and blond. She's not dark and mysterious. She's not sporty and collected. Actually, to be quite frank, she was a he.
You guessed it. I fell in love with him. I don't know how I did it or when it really happened, but I fell in love with my brother's best friend.
This is what had happened: my realization that I was gay. And in that small realization, everything changed.
