Cecile De La Maurve's family is beyond normal. To begin with, they're not human. They're vampire. Not the stereotypical undead monster who can't be in the sun and avoid holy places. To the public, they seem like normal people. Second of all, her family is huge. Not as in the whole extended family together. It's bigger. Although most of them live in the family estate, some have scattered themselves around the world but sooner or later, they all end up home. Even as vampires, Cecile's family live just like other families. Apart from the fact they live on blood. Their family, though appearing perfect, are far from it. They have their own problems just like any other family would but being vampire make them even worse. They've spent centuries hiding their true beings from humans but when one knows, how do they keep others from finding out?

A daughter and mother narrate their lives as part of the Carmine family. Where this large family of nine has hidden secrets they keep from the public, each other, and themselves. With devastating choices in their lives, Aspen and Celeste try to keep the family together and their secrets hidden. But, just like any chaotic family, secrets will spill, feelings will be hurt, and lives will be ruined. Chp. 14 Preview: Mom turned to look at me, and without any hesitation she began to answer. Maybe she thought I was finally ready to know the answer or maybe she didn't like keeping this a secret from me when I was raised by it. For whatever reason she decided to finally tell me, and I didn't care to ask. "Wow... okay, asking me this question before I was going to tell you... It's a long story and-," she began to tear up and put on a false smile, "-you're not going to like it." The truth behind my aunt and our family would be the reason my mom was so in denial about God's being real and her deciding to be an ignorant atheist. Because the truth ruined her life, just like it was going to ruin mine, but my life more than hers, because she wasn't going to be paying the consequences, she just had the misfortune of marrying into the family.
