A small vision into your dream scenario running away from it all. 
there you are driving out of sight. 
as you sit in the passenger seat driving across the county the muffled speakers begin to play this song. 

-I get lost in you in summertime by jimmy whispers-

you scream to your friend in the drivers seat as you stand up on the seat and stick your body out of the roof

"i love this song" you say 
your hair floating around you. the wind blowing your sweatshirt into distress feeling as though it is pulling you from the car. 
not caring about anything except what shitty diner your gonna stop at to get the same cheep breakfast and vanilla milkshakes that you've had weeks on end. 
everything is clear now. this is what you have dreamt of for as long as you can remember. this exact scenario you imagined laying in your bed at 3am listening to this exact song on repeat just to feel something. 
as this song plays you remember all the hardships you've had to go through. you no longer care about them. where will you go next. it doesn't matter. 
all your worried about is if the next vanilla milkshake will be as good as it last. you look down at your friend as she plays with the speaker. as this song fades away another begins

as i hear the chorus begin i can still smell last nights sparks of ashy residue from the joint i smoked. your world feels so light. so easy as you fly through this abandoned road at 50mph. waiting for the sun to rise behind the mountains. at this point you can't be sure what state your in anymore. you realize that your brain used to be so full in that shitty fucking town but now everything has come together. everything has been leading up to this moment. you really just hope the next vanilla milkshake will be good as the last.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one that drives down the interstate and imagines what it would be like to steer just a little to the right and crash through the guardrails or drive off the side of a cliff, maybe hit a tree or two while going eighty miles per hour. Am I the only one that wants to know what it would be like to feel the sting of glass shattering from the windshield and cutting into your skin, blood trickling down your face and the copper taste hitting your lips. Would I scream? Would I try to escape and call for help or would I stay frozen in place? I wonder if anyone would really even miss me, would the world be different in any way? My work would have to find someone to work the night shift, someone would have to clear out my apartment so that a new tenant can move in, my mom and dad would have to pretend to be torn apart over the lose of their eldest daughter. I don't think much would change, I have no real significance in this world. I don't think any of my friends would be too terribly distraught over it, it's not as if there's anyone I talk to on a regular basis anyway. I push down on the accelerator, watching as the speedometer hits one hundred and I check my mirrors for cops, smiling to myself when I see that I'm the only car on the road at this hour. I turn up my radio and drive the familiar roads way too fast, sometimes swerving between the lines, unable to hear anything but the music vibrating throughout the entire car.

I felt his body close to mine, I knew it was him because my body awoken in way it hasn't before. Not since I met him. I turned around, my back leaning against the fridge door. We were so close, I watch his eyes travel up and down my body before he locks his lips quickly before meeting my eye. "fez" I whispered when our lips were inches apart, his body left mine suddenly and I watch as he walks towards the door. I frown as I watch him lean up grabbing the shutters to pull them down. "fez you have a business to run" I spoke out, unsure of what is actually happening. I know what I want to happen, what I dream would happen. But I've always been a dreamer. "I have a big problem-" I heard his voice ring out, as the shutters hit the ground then he locked the door. He turned around to look at me, his eyes were darker. He looked a thousand times hotter. "a big fucking problem" he said again as he started making his way towards me, his hand come up and knocked on the fridge door. After a moment I heard the door out the back open and close, ashtray had left. "what's the problem? Maybe I-I can help" I felt so many emotions right now, some I'm used to and some that are fucking new. "I doubt that-" he mumbles as he was once again infront of me, one hand was above my head leaning on the fridge door. The other came down to touch my face. "I can't get you out my fucking head, your like a drug" he suddenly said before his hands go to my waist and he pulls my body against his before slamming his lips into mine. ~~~ Nothing in life was easy, including life itself but when you find someone who makes it easier nothing else matters. Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. But in some ways, I'm glad you're not a part of it. I just wish it wasn't like this. *** TRIGGER WARNING*** SA, abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and mental illness. This is a complete story that is much like life; fast, full of surprises, and not always how we want it to be. This has been a project of mine for over three years. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community. Many of us are not happy about ourselves, something we have done or not done, or the way we react to other people. We keep recycling sad thoughts until they become what we are. We can break this cycle . . . we really can choose to be happy. For most people being happy is not difficult but it does require persistence to undo the habits of a life time. There are many simple techniques to promote happiness. Some of them you probably heard from your grandmother . . . but there are other, less obvious ways. The brain makes up about 2 percent of a human's body weight, uses 20% of the oxygen consumed by the body and . . . is often not under our control. Proof? Try counting slowly with your eyes closed in a quiet place. How far did you get before you lost count and started thinking about something else? Many people can't make it past ten. Drugs are not the answer. Why risk addiction while destroying your lungs and your brain with alcohol, nicotine (smoking tobacco or vaping), cannabis (marijuana), opium derived drugs like Oxycontin or other unnecessary and unhealthy chemicals? If you need to dispel a bad mood, use one or more meditation techniques, evolution's natural way to obtain happiness.
