The Ladder had always been in Budmouth- at least, since anyone could remember, which was a while because Budmouth was a retirement village.The Ladder reached all the way into the clouds,
it was tall and skinny, unlike the residents of the houses built in a semi-circle around it, who were well-fed and porky and made of the various things that make up a human being. 

Though there was one old man however, who was as thin as the Ladder itself.
