Eren and Levi had lost their memories after being brought to another world and they can't even remember the person they loved most. Eren encounters many moments where his past is right at his finger tips, but he loses touch with it immediately. Levi lost most of his memories and can't remember his loved one either, but his memories start to come back in spurts. Over time their emotions start to click into each other the more they remember.
