A young blind girl lives alone with her father at the end of a dirt road in the Big Thicket of Texas. She believes she is speaking to ghosts; her father has forbidden her from doing so, claiming the ghosts will harm her. Something sickening is at work in the rural town of Warren; something horrible lies in the thicket.
