Akemi, a highly skilled inventor and mechanics designer, is one of Republic City's trusted urban developers and Firelord Izumi's most prodigious firebending student. Having been recruited by the Earth Empire to help with their temporarily tasked mission of stabilising the Earth Kingdom, Akemi is swiftly promoted to being Kuvira's personal assistant and firebending guard. Between the Great Uniter and her assistant blossoms an intense but clandestine relationship which begins to tamper with Akemi's sense of just ethics. As Kuvira's forced plans to unite all Earth Kingdom territory - including the United Republic of Nations - are revealed to her entourage, Akemi's loyalty towards the Earth Empire cause begins to waver as her ethics are tested even more intensely. Along her journey towards taking correct actions whilst under the influence of her relationship, the firebender crosses paths with various characters of the Legend of Korra, including members of Team Avatar and a long-lost relative of hers. The Great Uniter's vulnerability is showcased as her and her assistant's relationship itself is tested against the backdrop of Kuvira's tyrannical takeover of Republic City. Will Akemi do the [right] thing?

*I don't own any of the Legend of Korra characters; Akemi Ikedo, alongside a few minor characters not originally from LoK, is an original character incorporated into this story as a protagonist.
