Bored and ill content, Saxon woman, Wulfrun, is trapped in a loveless marriage, until her husband Harold brutally beats her and leaves her for dead as the Vikings are sweeping through the town. Found by Erik and taken back to his home where she heals from her wounds, she meets Torsten, a young man who gives Wulf her first taste of romance and excitement. The relationship angers Erik but as she does not speak his language, nor he hers, she has to find ways to see Torsten without Erik knowing. Wulfrun also forges a close friendship with Revna, which soon turns romantic and Wulfrun opens up to a world of possibilities for lust and love with multiple partners. After a short illness, Wulfrun has a vision that Harold has become a danger to the Northmen who'd settled in England is tasked with a quest from the God's, to return home and put an end to her husband. And so begins her training to prepare for the upcoming battle whilst navigating her relationships and overcoming her fears.
