Over the years that humanity has roamed this earth, a veil has slowly fallen over there eyes, a veil that shields the fragile human mind from seeing things that would only cause confusion and fear. As the human race fears things they do not understand, with out it, their minds would not be able to comprehend the hidden wonders of this world, the secrets that it keeps and the creatures that it contains.
A/N; just a little disclaimer, I will be using some ideas and some of the mythical creatures from films like The Hobbit, The Spiderwick Chronicles and things like that. I do not own any of the ideas from the films or books and all rights go to the authors and writers!!

Few minds can see past the veil, as it is controlled by the creatures that it's protecting.
You can't see them, but they can see you, and if they trust you enough, if they feel safe, they lift the veil that cover your eyes, revealing only themselves to your mind.
To see all of the hidden wonders, you have to be very special.

Magic, monsters, mayhem ... and high school. What could go wrong? Everything! I'm a freak, but I've got the God-given sense to know to keep it a secret that I can use magic to lose some things and to find other things. As magic goes, it totally sucks, especially since I can't control it. I couldn't use it to find my brother and save him from a serial killer. So what good is it that I can lose a shoe and find a hubcap? Some people do think I'm extra special, though. I don't know how they found out about me, but the Stone Men and their Black Dogs are after me every chance they get. It's their job to keep magic a secret and make you think the world is normal. The Glass Man's out to get me, too. He's just out to make everybody his psycho slave. There's a war coming between Stone and Glass, and I'm right in the middle. But this war isn't just about hidden magic and humans. When you're a little kid, your parents tell you that there isn't any such thing as monsters. Well, they're lying. Some monsters want to offer you a deal, and some, well, some just might end up your best friend. Others, they just want to eat you. Right now, I'm dodging homework and things trying to turn me into lunch. I'm gonna find a way out of this war and save my friends... or die trying--Complete

With a burning feeling
For one to inhabit oddities that are truly beyond normalcy, the town has been surprisingly peaceful for many centuries. However, behind the tranquility that seemed to encase the place, there lie intense rules that are forever ingrained by all townsfolk within their hearts and mind. Though it is not the town itself that was odd; but the territory just next to them. Vast and eerie, full of creatures of the unknown, and home to a being so powerful who was feared by all and remembered even by the youngest of children there was. The forest is not to be disturbed. The rules were simple. No one is to be allowed to enter, even taking a daring mere inch of a step, in the forest. NO. ENTRY. This is what has been placed when people take sightings of the large and wide forest. A warning that implies extreme danger due to the number of signs there are in one area. For there is a creature that lies beyond the forest. So dangerous and so terrifying, it could scorch the world with its flames. It's not a dragon. It's not a beastly monster. Not even a giant or a devil. But a god. A sun god. And the sun god's abode was the forest. And he is there for a reason.Complete

No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives. Some people don't understand the concept of someone's mind when they're at their worst in life. Others grasp the pain these people are in.
