Layna Verity is a mutant and a double agent of sorts. She was visiting London for a while, trying to come up with a plan to sabotage Sebastian Shaw's plans to rule over humans.

Charles Xavier crosses paths with her and unintentionally reads her thoughts. Not thinking much of it, they never see each other again until about over a week later when Charles decides to recruit Layna, but to his surprise, he sees her with Shaw.

Layna gives them whatever info she knows about what Shaw plans to do, hoping they can help stop him. Her and Charles eventually end up seeing each other again and joins the team, continuing her work of trying to help these mutant outcasts avoid a nuclear war and form a close connection with the psychic over time.

The Way We Are

17 parts Ongoing

After the rise and fall of Sebastian Shaw, and the disbanding of the team, Hank McCoy is as closed off as everyone else from that experience. He attempts to ignore his own suffering, for the sake of Charles, who has lost everything; his sister, his best friend, and the use of his legs. The presence of Sean and Alex brings little comfort, and they too eventually leave. But slowly, somehow, people have heard of the manor being a safe place, and Hank finds himself yet again surrounded by people, Charles seems to welcome this with open arms; even as Hank reverts back to old ways of becoming a shut in. Not that that lasts long before Charles eventually persuades him to leave the manor, to see the world and what it has now become, no way did Charles ever expect that Hank would end up meeting someone, a girl, while on one of his many forced outings.
