"Those who so closely served their falsely gilded kings told the common people that the killings were some sort of Rapture," he said scornfully, poison thick on his tongue. "But what really happened on that day was what we called a Bloodletting. To cut into the veins and draw out the sullied blood so that the body may live. That is their Rapture.

So when the wealthy mainlanders scorn us to our rotting moors and shackle us in the chains tarnished of our brothers and sisters blood, remember that the royal killings were a mercy to the common man, and not to their poisonous kings-a gift from our gods. Not theirs."
...

After desecrating a lawless holy site and being marked for death by thieves' gods before being so much as conscious, Finn is forced to sign his life away to the pirates who found him-because Finn and their captain have something in common. Both are marked by a tattoo that could get them killed by anyone who would discover it.

Bound by the honor of a mark he can't remember anything about, and a life debt to the pirates, Finn is quickly taken under the begrudging Captain North's wing. But, when his name echoes in the pirate haunts with talks of a bounty, the pirates are keen to cash in-only to find out that more than just this tattoo links them together. They have a common enemy, too.

Someone who will stop at nothing to measure them both for chains.

Finn and Captain North are forced to depend on each other if they want to survive the hunt and protect their secrets, but with promises of revenge and memories of the past lurking behind their shoulders, there's no telling if they'll survive-and whether or not they'll have any coin to show for it.

This story is being republished on wattpad! The whole series in already on Amazon and Smashwords! Enjoy :D A chain and a collar can imprison a nobleman, but what could entrap a devil? Only the innocence of a fallen angel. Once upon a time, there was a very respectful and principled young man, named Nyx. He was a nobleman in all meanings of the word. He struggled to keep his late father's fishing business alive and protect his dear mother and older sister. Between the fishermen's schemes and the selfishness of his stepfather, his task was not an easy burden to carry. One day, the fates threw him into a dangerous predicament, only to find himself being saved by the devil. Agenor (Ah-gueh-nor), Captain of the Martina pirate crew. He was strong and ruthless, which earned him a reputation across both shadowed waters and guarded islands as the 'Devil'. When the young nobleman fell into his hands, Agenor couldn't help but be enchanted by the innocent angel. He was inexplicably drawn to him. He didn't ponder much on his actions, as he was guided by a burning need to keep him for himself. It was within his rights to have the man for himself, to chain him and abuse him. He didn't listen to Nyx's pleas, or couldn't. He repeatedly denied him any chance of freedom. For deep within him, he knew. Nyx was his. This story depicts Nyx's adventure as he struggles to live among pirates, avoid their bullying and harassment, and witness his own feelings take unexpected turns towards his captor. When Alistair Melek gave his life to the sea, a various degree of things changed. For starters, his love for bloodshed was exemplified. Bolder. He was drawn to the clash of a sword, blood spiling below to floorboards, like a moth drawn to a flame. And this love was damned to spread through his crew as some treacherous disease, claiming any and all who joined. But he knew this was the price he'd pay. The price for the sea itself. So when his crew completes another standard loot and pillage from a merchant ship, he allows his men a bit of fun. He liked to give them an audience, rounding up those who didn't fall victim to the blade during battle, and forcing them to beg for their lives. To prove how much they really wanted to live. Alistair had ruled the sea for some years now. Killed thousands, maybe tens of thousands. Destroyed hundreds, maybe thousands of vessels. And yet, each feeble human was all the same. There was not one man he threatened that didn't beg for their lives with all they had in them when faced with the wrong end of the sword. Each feeble human was always the same. Or so he thought. And yet, he also thought that this would be one standard job. A treat for his men after a night of good work. But this particular survivor, the one with long white hair and dead looking eyes... He wasn't a merchant. He couldn't have been. More important, there was no hesitancy when Alistair asked the fairly built man whether he wanted to live, and the man replied with a simple no.

Decades. He'd wasted decades of his life doing what? Chasing the minuscule sparks of passion to ease the aching void in his chest? Wasn't there something better? Someone to guide him away from the misery? Distract him from the life he couldn't escape from? There were days he didn't know which way was up and where the sea began. Where the skies collided with the dirt and delved into the inferno of the hells. The whispers of creatures that should have had no interest in a mortal caressing the shell of his ears. Beings he believed to be just as mortal as himself and if one observed their flaws they might have been. Walking the city grounds and sailing the oceans as easily as anyone. Blockades of fire and ice prevented their hands from intertwining. Now he balanced atop the wall. Grabbing both with shaky arms and keeping them close. Please don't leave. Fangs and claws used to claim him. Gentle kisses and caresses to calm him. Breathless words pulled him deeper into the madness. Further into inky darkness speckled with blinding light. Granting him everything he never knew he'd wanted. A dream come reality. Strange how love could spark from pain. How fickle. And how much he only wanted more. ((Heelloooo, thanks for clicking. :3 Its been quite a bit since I've written anything but I wanted to try something new. Markus never considered himself as a man of great importance, but when his best friend commits mutiny on their slave ship, he turns from a no one into the captain's right hand. While his friend changes into the most fearless man he has ever seen, his feelings transcend those of friendship and admiration. Battling a longing for what he believes is a perverse love, he follows his captain on his path to become the world's most famous monster hunter. However, when their ship comes across another pirate ship of which the crew is nearly dead, Markus seems to lose grip on his friend's heart. A new monster is born. Jealousy; a more treacherous, poisonous and destructive beast than whatever creature that lives in the sea. ________ Note: This story is a fanfiction of the wonderful Wattpad story 'Rapture', written by athenamaddox, who gave me permission to write a fanfic. My story can be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend to read her story too for no matter how much effort I will put into this story, it's never going to be as amazing as the original work. Just read it. I have never written fanfiction about a book so that's an indication of how amazing Rapture is. (:
