Paloma Chanul is the curandera of the small town of Culantro, the equivalent of a shaman healer. But her confidence in her abilities disappeared when the yellow fever tore through town and killed many townsfolk and riversfolk. Her boyfriend, Canelo, has a hard time consoling her while keeping up with his duties of Sheriff; he has been unfaithful in the Past, so he is trying to be a good man to Paloma.

As the two struggle to work through these issues, a new threat takes root in the town of Culantro. Riversfolk begin to disappear in the middle of the night and are found in the morning...completely shriveled up. But is the culprit a supernatural monster or a serial killer that feeds off the overly superstitious population?

Ix Chiel was born into a peaceful village nestled deep in the Yucatn jungle, where the ancient traditions and rich culture of the Marani people thrived. Named after the Marani goddess of the moon and medicine, she was expected to lead a humble life, honoring the gods through rituals and daily offerings. From a young age, Ix Chiel showed an unusual affinity for the sacred practices, and the village elders saw in her a vessel chosen by the gods. On her eighteenth birthday, a great drought struck the land. Desperate to appease Chaac, the god of rain, the elders determined that a human sacrifice was necessary. Ix Chiel, with her deep connection to the divine, was chosen. Bound and adorned with sacred markings, she was led to the sacrificial altar atop a great pyramid. As the ceremonial blade descended, Ix Chiel's vision blurred, and she accepted her fate with a prayer. Her body fell, lifeless, and the village waited for the rains. But as darkness enveloped her consciousness, a voice, ancient and foreign, whispered promises of revenge and power. An unknown god, spurned and forgotten by the Marani pantheon, reached out and pulled her from death's embrace. Her eyes opened, now glowing with an otherworldly light, and a malevolent force surged within her. Reanimated and fueled by the anger of the forsaken deity, Ix Chel became an instrument of vengeance. Her village, once a place of warmth and community, turned into a scene of chaos and destruction. She unleashed a storm of fury, annihilating her home and leaving no survivor.

In a world taken over by the ruthless Invicta Beings, there is no place for humans, yet the remnants of the survivors continue to fight to regain a normal life. It only took one night for a group of friends to be brutally separated. Now they must cope alone in a world that has long since ceased to be safe for them. Fairlight, kidnapped by one of the Beings, must hide her true identity, because when they find out who she really is, she could face something far worse than death. She has no chance of escaping from a city surrounded by a thick impregnable wall. Time is running out and she feels a powerlessness she cannot bear. Her only chance for escape is Darksen - the Prince of Invicta, whose words have an unparalleled power. Ever since he met Fairlight, he knows he has to do something completely against Invicta's nature. He faces choices that could be fatal to his life, but the decisions he must make are necessary for a breakthrough to finally occur and for the world to have any chance of being saved. Ritael survived death. Terrified and confused, she flees across the Arizona desert, it seems, from herself, until she comes across an arrogant stranger. The golden-eyed man tells her about the people from Aeterna that they are. They found themselves on Earth just after the Land of Eternal Life burned down, and the ruins covered with a thick layer of ash are no longer habitable. They are immortal, but there is a catch to eternal life... It hasn't been long since Harlyn, as the only one, returned to Florence, and the camp is already preparing to evacuate. The two boys he found in the hut warn them all about the increased attacks of the Beings. The camps decide to join forces and flee to Sedona, where the canyon by the river is home to the most guarded hideout, built by the only Invicta Being allied with humans - Raysun. There is much more hidden in the past of each of them than they realize, and the discovery of the forgotten could change the fate of the world.
