They say you can have forever to fall in love. That wasn't the case for Harlow and Damon. BEFORE What would you do if you had one day left to live? Harlow has always known her expiration date would come sooner than most, or at least, was more tangible than most. As she gets closer and closer to the date, she decides that she'll spend her last days in the big city of San Francisco, away from all the people she'll cause the most pain. The city represents everything her overprotective -- if justified -- father hates for her, but to her, it represents her chance at a last shot of usefulness. And maybe, a little too late, she realizes it also represents her last chance at love. AFTER A love of crowds doesn't mean you'll find the one you're looking for. A mostly normal -- if not guaranteed -- lifespan might've been all Harlow ever wanted, once. But even as she gets to grab life by the horns with her friends, Layla and Aaradhya, and continue to improve with her singing career, Harlow always glances back. Looking for someone she made promises to and broke, someone she could've loved, if she hadn't done what she does best. Run away. When the person she expects least but wants most finally collides back into her life, it's not at all what she expected. Not when they're both so different and he represents everything her friend ran away from. ºººººººººººººººººº She doesn't believe in serendipity, He refuses to give up, Maybe, they can find love in each other, Without blowing it all up. *** Book 2 of the Serendipity trilogy *** NOT a book where either character is abusive - physically, emotionally, or mentally. Update 12/16/23: Everything save for the first few chapters will be unpublished as this series will be undergoing a major re-write in the coming months. Delilah moves from New York to a school where the fake popular kids claim her as their own. Making it impossible to make real friends. It isn't until she gets partnered with the mute boy for an assignment that she finally makes a real connection. She makes it her mission to get to now him. Although he doesn't want to be known. He's scared that once she gets to know him she'll leave like everyone else. But what they both don't expect is that music has a way of bringing people together. This book is a dual POV. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "That's incredible. You're incredible." My eyes widen and I look into her eyes again. A blush makes a way to her face and I can tell she didn't mean to say that last part out loud. But she did. And I can't stop myself from taking what she said to heart. It's been a long time since anyone has said anything remotely close to that to me. I can't let it get to me. I can't get used to it. Being hopeful. The higher you rise, the farther you fall. "Do you think you could make a song I can sing to?" She asks me timidly. I hesitate to say no. If I say no then she might spiral again. This is her hope. Her light to the darkness. She finally has something to look forward to and to distract her. As I mull over it I see the hope in her eyes dwindle. She doesn't expect me to say yes. "Okay," I whisper.
