It's been four years since the crowning of a new Champion in Japan, a young trainer who single-handedly took down an entire criminal organization known as Team Danganronpa who made a name for themselves by kidnapping children and stealing pokemon; and then completely wiping the floor with the Elite Four. But no one knows who this mysterious child prodigy is. Curiosity eats away at people all across the world; people making bets on who the Champion could be or residents of Japan trying but failing to climb the ranks so that they can find out for themselves.

Shuichi Saihara is a sixteen-year-old boy who works as an assistant for the esteemed Professor Kyoko Kirigiri alongside his two best friends, Maki Harukawa and Kaito Momota. The teenager is perfectly content with where he is in life; taking care of the Research Lab and tending to newborn Pokémon, while watching the world turn from inside. But when Intel about Team Danganronpa, a terrifying group of criminals who'd disbanded four years ago is brought to light, suddenly Shuichi and his two companions can't afford to sit still anymore.

And neither can another group of ragtag misfits with an agenda.
