In the distant future, it can be said that Fort Lauderdale, Florida isn't an ideal place for anyone to grow up. The grasses aren't greener, the water isn't clearer, and the hills aren't alive with the sound of music. Hundreds of people in Broward County attempt to move to planets beyond our mother Earth at the New JFK Space Center in the Keys, but very few ever make it further than Key Largo.
Ricky Geralds, 18, thinks she's got an edge that'll get her farther than that, however. After years of rolling around in the dirt in Florida, she's ready to take her family to a better world...
But there's more to her journey than any Earthlings may realize. Before she knows it, she'll have to test herself to see if she can brave the raging roads.
