Forever his cold hand would slap me, and I realized with a chill that forever, I would run.

But now I am here. And there is no going back. This test is not what I thought it was.
"You will be taking a test today," he informed us. I furrowed my eyebrows, waiting for him to explain. "It will not be on paper." My heart seemed to plummet in my chest as an eerie feeling pumped through my veins. "There are 24 of you here today." He smiled, looking straight into my wide eyes.
"By the time we're done, there will only be one."
