Marcus, the prince of Eulnore, can't stand it any longer. He refuses to sit idly by while the battle rages on. Defying his father's orders, Marcus leaves to go into battle. His conscience wouldn't let him do otherwise. But the ruthless enemy's plans swiftly change as soon as Marcus rides onto the battlefield. Though with the enemy capturing him, and a little eventual help, the prince manages to flee into the miles of forest beyond.
His destination? Home.
But what will he do when he realizes he is lost? And when a mysterious girl finds him in the forest? His life is in her hands and what will she choose to do?

Faneth is an elf. Many generations ago, her kind hid themselves in the great Reandal forest, away from the world, and built their new lives there. They aren't believed to exist anymore; only legends and ancient stories remain of them and all elves are content with that. Out of sight, out of mind; and out of mind means safe. The forest protected them and that's how they liked it. But Faneth is different. She longs to see what lies beyond the forest, to have her own adventure, and see what the rest of the world is like. And she may or may not have another incentive to do so.
What will she do when an adventure comes wandering right into the forest? How will she respond when she finds an injured human far beyond his lands? Will he take her to see the lands she yearns to be in?
Only time will tell.

When Faneth saves Marcus, it is the beginning of a true friendship, though their personalities clash at times. Although, as troubles dawn and new problems arise, and when a mystery shrouding a fateful event of Faneth's past returns to haunt her, together they try to find answers. Except as their friendship then partnership grows deeper, their feelings begin to catch on. But there's something standing between them. Something, or rather someone, hindering them from believing it's possible.

Grim Echoes by ryanahunter
94 parts Complete Mature
Maeve's ability to touch others' souls can be heartbreaking and confusing, but when she connects with two murderers, it turns her world upside down. Are they still killers if they only kill monsters? What starts as a random attack on the street stopped by two strangers quickly escalates as Maeve discovers her attackers were demons. Thrusting her into their violent world, Maeve struggles to hold on to her humanity, making choices she never believed she would have to make. Disturbed but drawn to each of them. Will's bestial nature calls to her one moment and rejects her the next. While a powerful attachment to Ander's gentle soul comforts her, but every time they connect, she feels his darkness just below the surface. Will's entire life has been a war against monsters, alongside his best-friend Ander. Honor bound by duty, he is brutal, relentless, and uncompromising in his mission to protect the masses. He didn't understand how much his world would change after saving Maeve, or how she would shatter his convictions. Ander may have magical talents but in his mind, nothing will redeem him from the abomination he is. Bound by more than shed blood, Will, his adopted brother, and only friend. Together they seek and destroy aberrations that poison the world. Until Maeve touched his hand, there was nothing else but the mission. With her, Ander could see a different side of himself, a different life. This is a character driven story written from the 3 main characters POV's. It's a mature adult dark romance & contains dubious triggering situations that some might find offensive. If you want an instant, fearless heroine, Maeve won't be it. Her story is discovering who she is & what power love can bring versus kicking monsters asses. Power & money aren't the only things that make the world turn & those that wield the greatest power control destiny. If you're looking for heroes, Will & Ander are NOT it. If you're drawn to tortured villainous souls, you'll enjoy their saga.

Old feuds, new worlds, and a love that will last a lifetime... Ever since her dad mysteriously abandoned her family, life on the Clifton Estate hasn't been all that exciting for 16-year-old Marla True. Her Mum constantly works to make ends meet, which means Marla has to put up with gossipy old Bev keeping an eye on her and noisy little half-sister Ribbon. If that wasn't bad enough, her exam results are in... and they aren't good. But at least she has her friends. Asher, the responsible and strong boy who has known her all her life and Ed, the orphaned rebel who loves to stir up trouble. Then there's her, Marla, stubborn, fiery and just plain lost. Life on the estate is same-old same-old, until the senile World War Two veteran, Mr. Pelham, starts freaking Marla out with his staring and rambling, cryptic messages. Is he trying to warn her? Or hurt her? When the bored trio decide to teach the creepy old man it's rude to scare young girls, they learn far too late just how crucial it is to respect your elders. For his daughter, Bridget, has a power unlike anything they've ever seen before and she uses her deadly craft to send them to a place that will teach them the lesson of their lifetime. Bridget has sent them back in time, all the way to World War Two, throwing them into a secret fight for the survival of all magical folk in the world. Marla soon learns what it really means to be a True, and the power her absent father has kept from her all her life... Marla, Ed and Asher are thrown into a world they and their generation have no comprehension of, a world where love is a relic of a life left behind and your only duty is sacrificing all that you have. These three friends are about to learn about a side of World War Two that never made the history books. ***I can't take credit for the artwork, it's called A BREAK IN REALITY and it's by the AMAZINGLY talented Xenobyte on deviantart. Strands of your mind cling together like web to a slippery leaf bathed in the morning dew. You have seen both heaven and hell, witnessed the atrocities of war firsthand, and imagined a better life in the deepest, most intimate corners of your dreaming spirit. The wishes for peace and certainty you have once so desperately longed for, now lay trampled underneath the might of your mind's vivid horrors. What was once so bright and lively, now cowers in fear, clinging to gone memories like a shipwreck survivor to some lowly piece of driftwood. From the depths of hell, you arrived victorious, grasping the laurel wreath high above your head. Unrecognizable, with your empty eyes telling a story of innocence brutally taken away from the child curling in shame in the depths of your empty soul. Almost green you are, curly head, having grown up with a rifle by your bedside table, never knowing peace and quiet. Out of the pan that was the Kazdel Civil War and into the scorching flames of Lungmen, where life flows by on its own accord, here, you must learn to live once more. So put on your best facade, Let the reuniting trumpets ring a wild, And allow the city to swallow you whole. Here we are, a continuation of my previous work "Goodbye Curly Head", which sprawled into quite the epistle (but it wasn't really a letter, it's just long :P). Summarized in the most basic way possible, it's a story about a twenty-year-old Kazdel Civil War veteran who goes to Lungmen and has some troubles acclimating to the steady life presented before him. Sprinkle in a too-good-to-be-true offer and a freshly established logistics company, and you get Andy trying to make it big for as long as his deteriorating mental state lets him. I'd say it works as a standalone story for anyone who doesn't want to bother reading the first part. For now, at least. As always, please, pwwease leave a comment, positive, negative, I LOOOVE reading and replying to comments!!
