Sixteen year old Deja dreams of the day she can get away from her abusive and overbearing mother, Courtney, but as soon as Deja takes steps toward her independence and dating Courtney snaps. Her mood swings keep Deja guessing, never knowing what abuse Courtney might put her through next.

As Deja comes of driving age she realizes Courtney is hiding secrets, but what could someone as dull as her mother be hiding?

When Deja accepts a job at the Dollar Cinema across the street from her housing development she hears a rumor that a teen girl was murdered at the Cinema sixteen years ago, and the murderer was never caught.

The cold case doesn't dissuade Deja from taking the job, but in the process she unravels family secrets and endangers her own life.
