When the premier architect for the pentagon’s next generation, largely robotic, military goes offline, citing irreconcilable differences, the CEO of RevoCorp, the private firm that manufactures all of Natty’s toys, takes it upon himself to help their boy genius undergo a change of heart. He schedules a little R&R for him in the thick of the Amazon jungle. His secret aim is to see that Natty has to fight for his life against many of his own creations. Perhaps after getting a taste of the corporate “team builder,” he’ll be right back to realizing that growing a conscience just gets in the way of boys with toys. He’s counting on the child at heart that Natty remains even now that he’s in his twenties resurfacing in force.

Instead, a chain of events is unleashed that threatens not only the entire planet but compels the maturation that just hasn’t taken in Natty up until now. With his girlfriend in tow, and falling fast for the Special Ops guy heading up his protection detail, who is the epitome of the suave, sophisticated man of the world, as capable of dealing with anything reality dishes out as Natty is capable of avoiding reality altogether, he has no choice but to present a better version of himself to her or lose Laney altogether.

Can Natty pull off the metamorphosis before Quatrell, his rival for Laney’s affections, decides it’s just more advantageous to let their CEO take him out, using the war games as an excuse?

And what about what Natty finds in the depths of the amazon jungle? Prototypes he can barely remember designing are proving to have a life of their own beyond even their creator’s wildest imaginings. They also have an agenda entirely their own. And no Special Ops team is enough to protect Natty against a future he himself built, a post-human world, where even the most capable of combat-trained humans just can’t cut it anymore.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! Amanita: Poison Shot by marsaumell

It's 2141. Clones have taken over as the dominant species. Using brain nanochips to surveil thoughts and actions, they have pushed traditional humans down to a status of low-class workers in a discriminatory dystopia. A nineteen-year-old aspiring mechanic and traditional human, Daphne, unwillingly leads a double life when Sigi, a rebel from the nightclub Amanita, hacks her nanochip and frees her from clone control. Since then, she becomes involved in a plot to dethrone the clones as the ruling elite. Daphne is caught between two pro-violence titans with twisted concepts of justice: Apollo, the Living God of clones, on one side and Agape, the rebels' leader, on the other. Daphne's ideals and pacifism are put to the test as she encounters good and evil on both sides. She abhors the rebels' blood-thirsty road to freedom, which only emulates the clones' violence during the Prevalence War. All in the name of justice. True peace, not rebels taking over and getting revenge, could end it all. But how? History and old mistakes will get repeated. Despite it all, some questions plague Daphne's mind: if true peace is possible, are criminals and tyrants worth listening to? Do they deserve peace? To be forgiven while uprooting the seeds of hatred so that history doesn't repeat itself? Daphne won't conform to the insurrectionary, perverse ideals of Agape and her allegedly justified acts of terrorism. But can she rise from a scared girl to an empowered game-changer? 🧬 🧬 ⚖ 🧬 🧬 A Sci-Fi story with a sprinkle of Romance and Mystery. Do your genes, your parents, teachers, or your master determine who you will be in life? Can they set your value in the universe? 650 years ago the known species of the universe came together and signed the Alliance, a document that would help each race find its place in the universe. It granted freedom to some and the scant protection of slavery to others. Into this society a handful of children are born who will change it forever, if they can survive to adulthood. Here is the origin story of two of those children. Hathu is born to a man determined to make the universe bow to him and his species. Since he learned to talk, Hathu has been a disappointment to his father. He doesn't want to become a warrior, and he refuses to assert his dominance. When he accidentally overhears his father plotting against the Ir'Klahn empire, can Hathu stop him? Mik is born with no rights, destined to become a lifelong slave. His mother tries to protect him from this fate by running away and finding a home for them on a trading ship that travels from world to world. They are safe for now, but how long can they hide from the best trackers in the universe? This is the first book in the My Kingdom Come series. Updates every Tuesday. :) My 2021 Nanowrimo so please excuse the unedited condition of the story. Be warned: there is violence, rape, murder, abuse, self harm and suicidal thoughts in this story. The High Tower infected Earth's population and only those strong enough to survive the conversion from human to nano-human sapiens were allowed to continue living on the ground level as Bottom Feeders. Over half the world's population fell to the new world order. Zaphrina is a Nomad Healer in the Golden Arena. Not having the restrictions of a guild has its perks and pays better. Surviving alone in a world where everyone is trying to live forever is easier with the laws of Guilds and Zaph has survived since humanity fell to the High Tower over two centuries ago without joining the halls. The rules of the Bottom Feeders are easy. You either survive by taking refuge in the Guild Halls or you level up enough to be able to survive the conditions of floor levels. Zaph has it easy for the most part. Her older brother Max has been looking out for her since their conversion. Their parents didn't survive the change. Max is one of the newest but deadliest Guild Masters in the Arenas and often contracts Zaph to help in battles. He's begged her for years to join his guild, but she's never wanted to be part of them. She likes her peace and prefers to be alone than surrounded by those who would see her dead if the opportunity arose. Zaph's peace comes to an end when her brother reveals that former members of his guild had fallen victim to the recent murders in NeoGlover City and their son was left orphaned. Cody, the eleven-year-old second-generation nano-humanoid child, stands to inherit a vast territory that could make any guild the most powerful in the NeoGlover sector. Friends turn foes when the guilds find out that this kid has one of the most valuable accounts she's ever seen. To save Cody, Zaph is forced to solve the twelve recent murders in the city that will grant her an audience with the High Tower council who will remove the territories and return them to the city in exchange for Cody's adult-level updates.

100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)
