When the premier architect for the pentagon’s next generation, largely robotic, military goes offline, citing irreconcilable differences, the CEO of RevoCorp, the private firm that manufactures all of Natty’s toys, takes it upon himself to help their boy genius undergo a change of heart. He schedules a little R&R for him in the thick of the Amazon jungle. His secret aim is to see that Natty has to fight for his life against many of his own creations. Perhaps after getting a taste of the corporate “team builder,” he’ll be right back to realizing that growing a conscience just gets in the way of boys with toys. He’s counting on the child at heart that Natty remains even now that he’s in his twenties resurfacing in force.

Instead, a chain of events is unleashed that threatens not only the entire planet but compels the maturation that just hasn’t taken in Natty up until now. With his girlfriend in tow, and falling fast for the Special Ops guy heading up his protection detail, who is the epitome of the suave, sophisticated man of the world, as capable of dealing with anything reality dishes out as Natty is capable of avoiding reality altogether, he has no choice but to present a better version of himself to her or lose Laney altogether.

Can Natty pull off the metamorphosis before Quatrell, his rival for Laney’s affections, decides it’s just more advantageous to let their CEO take him out, using the war games as an excuse?

And what about what Natty finds in the depths of the amazon jungle? Prototypes he can barely remember designing are proving to have a life of their own beyond even their creator’s wildest imaginings. They also have an agenda entirely their own. And no Special Ops team is enough to protect Natty against a future he himself built, a post-human world, where even the most capable of combat-trained humans just can’t cut it anymore.

His eyes drop to my lips before his mouth descends, capturing mine in an all consuming, over powering kiss and I moan almost instantly. He captures the sound in his mouth, pressing his lips firmly against my own, possessing, teasing and coaxing more gasps from within me. I'd never felt a kiss like this before; I twist my tongue against his and hear a deep groan of approval in the back of his throat. He grabs me and pulls me into his body, pressing my chest against his own, and I take the next step by swinging my leg over and sitting astride him. I feel him sweep my hair up in a firm but gently grip, moving it from my neck to free the skin for his mouth to lower, to nip and kiss along my shoulder. **** He was supposed to be another birthday gift. She was supposed to be another human. Guess they were both wrong. **** Androids were for the service of humans... that's why Rae's father bought her one for her 8th birthday. What she got however: was a beautifully sculpted man, who seemed to be as unlike a robot, as a robot could be. What he got: A kind hearted girl that had him... feeling. Robots didn't have 'feelings' Together, they try to figure out his uniqueness; why would his creator up and vanish right after building him? Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! Do your genes, your parents, teachers, or your master determine who you will be in life? Can they set your value in the universe? 650 years ago the known species of the universe came together and signed the Alliance, a document that would help each race find its place in the universe. It granted freedom to some and the scant protection of slavery to others. Into this society a handful of children are born who will change it forever, if they can survive to adulthood. Here is the origin story of two of those children. Hathu is born to a man determined to make the universe bow to him and his species. Since he learned to talk, Hathu has been a disappointment to his father. He doesn't want to become a warrior, and he refuses to assert his dominance. When he accidentally overhears his father plotting against the Ir'Klahn empire, can Hathu stop him? Mik is born with no rights, destined to become a lifelong slave. His mother tries to protect him from this fate by running away and finding a home for them on a trading ship that travels from world to world. They are safe for now, but how long can they hide from the best trackers in the universe? This is the first book in the My Kingdom Come series. Updates every Tuesday. :) My 2021 Nanowrimo so please excuse the unedited condition of the story. Be warned: there is violence, rape, murder, abuse, self harm and suicidal thoughts in this story. Technology. A simple word, isn't it? Well... Not really. It can be anything. Your phones, your PC, or any other device you're using to read this description. BUT... It doesn't end there. Televisions, radios, refrigerators, ovens, blah blah blah, the list goes on and on. Pretty cool, huh? Well, now, let's think of technology in a fictional world. Or even better, a fictional world, where people have gone through mutations in their very genes, giving them specific "inhumane" abilities... Coined as "quirks". In the light of such mutations, people started to bring their dreams to realities, and the concept of "heroes" and "villains" came up. Such genetic mutations spread all around and now, the mutated people, or, "quirked" people, make up about 80 percent of all human life on this fricking earth! Getting back to the point, technology surely has MUCH MORE influence and practical use in this world. Now, imagine the power to control this technology. Or, having a quirk that allows you to do so. Let's join each other and follow the journey of a young man named Y/N Colomar, who has this specific quirk. Like any other kid his age, he wants to be a hero. He just wants to help others, and see people's smiles at the end of the day. The only issue is... The dude is a complete shy introvert. Best rankings: 01/08/2024: #1 in #malereaderinsert
