Hey there!
I've been reading about greek mythology for a while now and this short story is based on the folklore of Medusa the Gorgon. What really inspired me to write this story is the Medusa Statue Holding Perseus' Severed Head by Luciano Garbati. According to Greek mythology, Medusa was a mortal priestess at the temple of Athena. Where she was dishonored by sea God Poseidon and Athena in her rage cursed her for breaking her vow of celibacy and She grew hideous snakes on her head and a gaze that could turn men into stone.
Interestingly women today views this story of Medusa completely differently than the classic myth, which is probably how men saw the story. A lot of us view this story as Athena protecting Medusa by giving her the power to make any man who looked at her completely harmless. In fact, Medusas head was used as a symbol to mark women's shelters in Ancient Greece (atleast that's what they say on the internet) I'm not sure it it's legit but this is one of my favorite little tidbits.

Hope you enjoy the story!

Eros The Beloved de WormyPeach

+18! "...I really feel how much you care, how much you love. That's why we call you The Beloved, you know that, right?.." Eros, the god of love, the god of desire Known to most as that little baby that flies around, toting a tiny quiver of arrows, impaling anyone who he wishes to find love. This is what he does, what he's known for across the entire world. Such a sweet, little, innocent baby who cares deeply about bringing together two twin flames. What's not to love, right? According to Carmella, the worlds most bitter hermit, there was nothing to love about this little rat with wings--and no, she didn't mind calling a sweet, innocent child a rat with wings. To her, Eros was nothing more than an annoying pest who stuck his little nose into the busy lives of people who resented love with a burning passion. She'd strangle that blue-eyed, winged rat if she ever got the chance to, spouting her gripes with the concept of love the entire time. Luckily for her, that baby wasn't real and infanticide could abstain from her pristine criminal record. But, little did the bitter hermit know, Eros was real. However, he's no longer that chubby baby with wings but instead a very handsome, very muscular (very hung) man who just so happened to bump into her on the street. Unfortunately for her, the one person she was trying to avoid for her entire life had now mentally decided that Carmella was going to fall in love. And he was going to make sure that she fell so, very fucking hard. He just didn't anticipate that he'd fall just the same.

Medusa, the infamous Gorgon with snakes for hair, lives a secluded life in the ruins of a forgotten temple on the outskirts of Aethria. Her heart aches for connection, but her curse keeps her isolated, yearning for a love she believes is unattainable. In the heart of Aethria resides Alexios, a gentle and talented musician who lost his sight in a childhood accident. Despite his blindness, he has learned to navigate the world with grace and courage, using his heightened senses of touch, sound, and intuition. His music is renowned throughout the city, captivating all who hear it. One fateful day, while wandering the ruins in search of inspiration for a new composition, Alexios stumbles upon Medusa's forgotten temple. Unbeknownst to him, he gazes in her direction, but his blindness saves him from her curse. Intrigued by the presence of another person in her desolate world, Medusa remains hidden, observing him from the shadows. As Alexios explores the temple, he discovers a beautifully sculpted statue, seemingly carved from the finest marble. He is inexplicably drawn to this life-like figure and begins to play a haunting melody on his lyre. The enchanting notes fill the temple, and Medusa, hidden behind a pillar, is captivated by the music... A.N - second book of Divine Desires :)

"Who's there?" Megara asked, her voice calm but curious. Medusa was stunned into silence. It wasn't fear in Megara's tone-just genuine curiosity. For a moment, Medusa considered fleeing, but something about the priestess's unthreatening demeanor held her in place. When Medusa finally spoke, her voice was hesitant, as if unsure of how to handle this unusual encounter. "You shouldn't be here," she said softly, her tone carrying both a warning and a plea. Megara tilted her head slightly, sensing the tension in the voice. "Forgive me. I didn't mean to intrude," she said, turning her face toward Medusa without hesitation. "I'm gathering herbs for the temple. This garden is... beautiful." Medusa blinked, utterly perplexed. No one had complimented her or anything of hers in so long. "You... you're not afraid?" Medusa asked, her snakes hissing softly in curiosity. Megara smiled faintly. "Why would I be afraid? You sound lonely, not dangerous."
