Dani is a hunter. She provides for her younger brother, Verdi. Where are her parents? Her dad, fighting in the war. Mom, in the back of the house dying of an illness caused by a type of wood, found mostly on the land of Creatures.
What are Creatures? The monsters we're fighting in the war. Or at least what we call them. I'm sure they have their own names for what they are. But anyway, our mom was looking for food... Winter was harsh. She explored too deeply and found a bunch of unknown trees. Thankfully she wasn't exposed to them for very long and she left after catching some food for the week. But after that... her lungs shrunk, her stomach is compressed so she can't eat much, and she can't feel her legs. It hurts to watch her suffer. That's why I take care of her work while Verdi takes care of mom and the house.
But what will happen when Dani stumbles too far into the dreaded woods? What happens when she finds something even worse than the deadly trees her mom faced? What if she meets one of the Creatures? What if she even manages to fight one of my herself? And what will happen when she's taken away for unprovoked aggression against a little kid? Read and find out.
