The Return

From the aftermath of the destruction the Great War caused and the mass deaths of the young and elderly from an unknown disease, two groups of survivors have emerged from the wreckage of the earth’s lands. The Outliers, a group of humans who somehow outlasted the fall of civilization. And the Shells, a clan of people who have completely lost their humanity, they have gone mad with hunger and hunt the remainder of the civilized humans with only one thought in mind. Food.

Paz has always been an outcast. Being left for the American foster care system, when his small family was killed in a fire he was eventually lost within the system. He grew up knowing many homes and many people. He now silently searches for an escape from the radical Outliers who have gone to extremes to stay alive much as the Shells have.

Lyric is safe. She has always lived a carefully planned life.Living under the sea away from the crash of the humans. A mermaid safe from harm. She is out of place among her family. The youngest of five beautiful sisters. Sisters whose enchanting voices can bewitch people to do their bidding. But Lyric unlike her namesake did not get the gift of Voice. She got the ability to see into the future able to predict what it may hold. The latest of her visions are of a boy who has now become a man. A man who Lyric is inexplicably drawn to.

Both Paz and Lyric both search for the thing they desire most. A place where they will belong. Little do they know they must find each other to be fully content.
