Aaren Tammar has been oblivious to the significance of the piece of jewellery she has been in possession of for most of the years of her life.

When it is stolen and later returned, she realizes that the fleeing from responsibility by her entire maternal family was part of something much bigger.

The Legion of the Ancestry.

A widespread society of those possessing a specific type of magic that dealt with trinkets; small, showy pieces of jewellery.

Once the truth about it is revealed, Aaren and a group of rebels from the Ancestry have to join forces to bring their lost ones back with the help of a special anklet.

In the midst of their adventure, Aaren learns to develop her powers. But it feels like she hasn't any.

And when it comes to bringing the non-existent back to existence, there is a price.

Especially when a shiny piece of jewellery is involved.
