"You have committed treason. You exposed our secret," he accused me effortlessly. I didn't know what to say. I was fumbling for words. I thought I had everything done well. I thought I was being a good person. I thought I was keeping out of the action. I thought I was doing what they wanted me to do. Apparently, no. I heard the boy gasp and realized he was shuddering with his teeth. He was cold. His eyes were still glittering with crimson light.
