For as long as she could remember, there had been a war raging around Misaki. It tore at the world around her and took countless lives, including the lives of her parents. But in the aftermath, by some stroke of luck, Misaki and what was left of her family managed to stay out of the war, taking shelter in a little village nestled deep in the woods in the far reaches of Japan.
It isn't until Misaki's life is turned completely upside down that she considers the possibility that she was meant for more than just hiding out and watching from the sidelines. In an intense plot twist, she becomes the hero of her own story. Life has thrown her a major curve ball, but history cannot be rewritten, and the future is now in Misaki's hands. With her head held high and her hopes even higher, Misaki accepts her birthright and dives into the life of a ninja. Strength, loyalty, and love are among the many lessons that she will have to learn on her journey to save her country, but none of them will be taught easily.
Battles will be fought, a forgotten past will clash with an unknown future, and one question will persist: does Misaki have what it takes to uphold the Kusonoki legacy as the revered ninja princess?
