When the Empire sails to Tacree and lays waste to the shape-shifters, there are few survivors. Princess Rosabel will realise her destiny on her journey to save the remnants of her people.

*****

Princess Rosabel of the Tacree Kingdom has always known what her duty is; protect her people, marry the prince, and become the greatest shape-shifter to have ever lived since the Mother was created. With her father guiding her and her path set for her, deviation was never an option.

But when the crimson and black sails of the Sharlik Empire block out the setting sun on the Blood Ocean, Rosabel's commitment to her duty will be tested, as will her people's faith in her.

The young princess will go on a journey to save her people, a goal she may not be ready to undertake. But if her people have any hope of survival, Rosabel will have to realise her power and that she's bound by flame.

*****

A book written for NaNoWriMo 2020, this will be very rough and raw as a first draft with minimal planning.

This story is a side novel beside the Flame in the Veins trilogy and is based before the trilogy. It's recommended to have read Flame in the Veins before reading this because of spoilers for that book, but this book is a standalone so it's not crucial.

Rune and Ruin by LeonaPage
63 parts Ongoing Mature
To bait a falcon, a very small bird is fitted with ball weights attached to a string held by the falconer. When the raptor attacks, the rolling dive will tangle around the legs of both birds, thus ensuring the falcon cannot fly away. Further training involves both the string and treats, often meat from the same small birds, encouraging the predator to return to its handler. Centuries of war between the gods have caused an imbalance in the mortal world. Stark lines of division have resulted in three species, all vying for survival against an increasingly harsh world; The Tasuri, demon-shifters with noble houses stretching back before the founding of cities, shapeshifters in their clans and dens, and the Acera, those without fang, claw, wing, or hoof. The Tasuri city of Rune has never been more powerful, or more desperate. A plague has hit, a disease of infertility that is decimating the population of the purebloods and shifters. The Tasuri and shapeshifters turn their attention to the small, remote villages and towns of the Acera. Defenseless, there is nothing to stop the two powerful groups from enslaving the Acera and destroying the balance of their world beyond recognition. The ruin of the Acera is underway when the Tasuri House of Fyriin births a Warlord. The young warrior, Falx, takes his army of demons into the hills. There, he is gifted a young Acera slave as tribute. Thania has every reason to hate him, but she bears more weight on her slight shoulders than Falx could possibly know. What happens to the world when you take the bird away from her falcon? Warning: This is a historical fantasy, paranormal romance. It will have explicit scenes, including scenes of nonconsent. This world is brutal and harsh. Please take care before reading!
Half of the Kingdom(ft. commentary) by GadSul

My NaNoWriMo novel from November 1st 2016-June 8th 2017 ft. My 2019 self's astute critique. ~~ Miryanna Heolstor is a lady of Terinnia, the niece of the king himself. Ever since she was young she's wanted to follow her father's footsteps and become an ambassador to the land of Fasik. But a new threat is building that will put being an ambassador far from her mind. Her friend Andarin is involved in a secret organization called the Erglis that protects the kingdom from people and organizations who would do it harm. Miryanna wants in. Even if those people and organizations are Karayan Batal and the Vanags. A bloodthirsty group and a passionate and powerful man who's goal is to overtake the land of Terinnia and lay it bare to the hostile Empire of Amani's clutches. Miryanna never thought she'd be butting heads with her kingdom's greatest threat, but while Karayan does his utmost to upset the deffences of her and the Erglis, she does everything in her power to keep his hands off the things she loves, finding a formidable antagonist in the process. Can Miryanna find the strength within her to do all she can for her friends and the land of Terinnia? Or will she become another victim in a power play by an overambitious empire? ~~ Fantasy/adventure, a bit of cringe, a lot of not knowing what I'm doing. I've given my commentary and for once, I want to hear other people's take on this too, but for pete's sake, know what you're talking about before you hit "comment". It is completely unedited. All typos, punctuation mistakes, and questionable grammar is in place. Don't bother with it. That's not important to me, the story and story and world is.
