The Li's have money. The Wei's have zilch. Two girls are thrown into a foreign country to attend the most prestigious of Singaporean boarding schools - Stamford International. But when one family wedges themselves in between them, they're thrown into tangled web of love, lies and money. They'll have to put aside their differences to get out of the mess - but it's not that easy. - Grace Li has two-thousand followers on Weibo, hair insured for five-hundred Yuan and record of her cheek liposuction done when she was twelve. The Li's come from money - they practically own half of the real-estate in Beijing. But not even her closet of Birkin bags can stop the uproar when China discovers just what exactly goes on in the Li's business. Ellie Wei has a total of three t-shirts and two pairs of pants in her suitcase, a father who can't afford plastic cutlery and two-minute noodle packed for lunch everyday. The chances of keeping the tiny apartment she and her father have rented in the middle of Sydney are looking slim, and the landlord's got an eye out for each cent they earn. But then a woman claiming to be her mother offers Ellie with the tantalising thought of a mansion, and the crumbling unit becomes even harder to bear. When both Grace and Ellie are flown off to attend Stamford International School in Singapore, they couldn't be more disappointed to find that they've been put together as roommates. Ellie thinks that Grace is too snobbish, and Grace thinks that Ellie is too uptight. But when one family wedges themselves in between the Li's and the Wei's, Grace and Ellie are thrown into a cesspool of forced love, lies, manipulative boys and stolen money. The only way out is together - but are they ready for it? - ©Mary S. When Charlie Miller loses her job the week before both her roommates move to California, she decides it's time to get out of Texas. But with her bank account embarrassingly empty and her newly divorced parents living thousands of miles apart, she doesn't know where to go. And then she remembers Fisher. The small lakeside town in Idaho where she spent every summer until she was eighteen at her uncle's cabin. It's the last place she was truly happy, so the day Gaby and Tay move out, Charlie packs up her car and embarks on the 1,800-mile drive. She has no idea what to expect when she gets there: her uncle sold the cabin six years ago, after all, and the last time she was there she was surrounded by her cousins. This time around she is alone, and she is lonely. When she revisits the old cabin, it's pure nostalgia. Until she is caught by the neighbor. Who just happens to be the most beautiful woman Charlie has ever seen. She is smitten, instantly, and all of a sudden her trip to Fisher has a purpose. The only problem: Lou is almost twenty years older, she has a teenage daughter, and Charlie's pretty sure she's straight. But the more time they spend together, the less sure Charlie is, and when a freak event throws them together, there's only one way to find out. After all, she's only here for two weeks and then she has to figure her life out. She has nothing left to lose. © Elle Carrigan 2023
