Marcus told his parents moving now is a bad idea. He told them. Many times. Awkward and weirdo (that's what he thinks of himself), he knew he wouldn't make a lot of friends. Not that he had many before. He's just not good around people. He talks to himself a lot and rambles when he's nervous.

Kairn seems like those mysterious bad boy types. Like those cool guys in black and white aesthetic pictures. It looks like he gets along with everyone and would talk to you if you talk to him, but he prefers to be alone. Girls dig him as well. But people just can't seem to figure him out. He doesn't really care about anything; it seems. When he looks at Marcus, he must think 'what a weirdo'. Yeah, that's what Marcus thinks.

They started introducing themselves. Now it's his turn.
He looked at me, his indifferent gaze resting on me for a few seconds and said,
"I'm Kairn." And turned away.

He's weird. But I'm probably weirder.

"We call him Kai," his friend said. He gave a curt nod.

Sage Gibson wasn't prepared for his whole existence to be uprooted and moved away. He didn't love his life, but that didn't mean he wouldn't miss it. Now he's in a small town where he pretends not to notice the looks some people give him. Maybe it's the painted finger nails? He doesn't care all that much. He's too busy trying to figure himself out and how much of his past is affecting him. With his family to worry about and his own personal puzzle that is his mind, he doesn't have time to care about what people at school think of him. He's happy enough with his one new friend and gawking at her hot brother. (He will never admit that last part out loud.) That's all he needs. And if said hot brother wants to become friends too? Well, he won't complain. Marc Yamasaki is normally a quiet guy. He doesn't like to talk too much and everyone has just accepted that. He doesn't have much to say, so why try? He's too tired of trying to get people to care. When a new boy shows up, suddenly his interest is piqued. The freckled face boy is good at basketball and he's a little cute. Sure, he likes to talk a lot, but Marc finds it oddly adorable. The only slight problem is his hesitation to join the team, and the fact that he might be flirting with Aria, Marc's sister. He can't tell if he wants to hate or like this guy. Then he finds out he's gay? Cherry on top. So, what happens when the two boys get closer while playing basketball? Their friendship gets to feeling a little... odd. What will they become when a new tension starts to settle over them?

I'm gay. Some people hate that. I don't. I think. But I know a couple people who do. Hate me, that is. And I'm about ready to give up until I meet Blaine. I don't know why, but he stops me in my metaphorical downhill tracks. There's a little part of me that really, really wants to trust him, but my mind is backtracking hard. But I have so much to deal with, have dealt with so much, will deal with so much, that maybe it's time to let somebody deal with it with me. But does he want to? I want to believe he does, but the voices in my head tell me he doesn't. They're annoying sometimes. Maybe there's a chance he'll see me for who I am, which I don't know if anyone's ever done before. Maybe there's a chance I could be something close to happy. Maybe I owe it to myself to try.
