August 1999 - Eudoxia (You-Doe-Shuh) "Doshi" Brandenburg is a 18 year old senior in high school, hoping to go to her dream school and eventually make it big as a drummer. She plays off as being tough as nails, but deep down she really just wants to be loved for who she is, despite the fact she's never quite fit in with or measured up to social expectations. She loves David Bowie (it's something she shared with her dad since childhood), red lipstick, black leather jackets, and people who buck the system. She and her best friends, Alice Poynter, Charlotte Wolfe, and Valentina Espinoza formed a band, XaostheorY (Chaos Theory), and set out to become the next big riot grrrl band. But all of that is far off. In the mean time, Eudoxia realizes being a heavy set, curly haired brunette punk girl in suburban Indiana poses quite the challenge, despite all the privileges she has. Not falling in line with what she "should" be makes for an extra set of challenges as she navigates love, betrayal, teenaged pregnancy (not her own), her sexual identity, her lifelong relationship with Alice, and her father's infidelities. After all is said and done, Eudoxia sits down and puts pen to paper, crafting a poem, "Porcelain Doll" to let go of all of the struggles of her last year of childhood. By the time graduation comes around, she's ready to launch into adulthood, and chase her dreams of fame and fortune.
"I'm nobody. That's all I am. That's all i ever will be. And everyone else agrees, it just never ends.... Sometimes all I want is for it to end- is that to much to ask?"
Samantha, also known as Sam lives a hard life. She's known as the outcast, the rebel, the Emo of the town. She's nicer than people think, all she wants is to be accepted. Ever since high school she's been bullied, abused, tortured, simply for the way she looks. With dyed black and red hair, black eyeliner, and all black clothing, consisting of ripped skinny jeans, band merch, bracelets, combat boots, and any other 'Emo' clothing you could think of. Constantly being judged and abused by her family and everyone around her, Sam is slowly losing hope on things getting better, and even goes deeper than she ever has before. But will that change when she gets the chance of a lifetime when she meets some of her idols, the members of Black Veil Brides? Read to find out!
