Hermione Granger had taken a job as an intern in the Ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement after the Battle of Hogwarts. While most Death Eaters were in Azkaban, there were few "reformed" Death Eaters. These Death Eaters were being monitored with the trace in their marks. It was Hermione's job to review the traces daily. She needed to find one family, the Malfoys.

Yet, the Malfoys were nowhere to be found. They had disappeared during the Battle of Hogwarts, and Draco and Lucius were without wands-presenting a problem for Hermione. Narcissa refused to cast spells for fear they would be found. But how long were the Malfoys to survive in a world without magic?

The Malfoys would slip up. Hermione was counting on it.
She needed Draco Malfoy. She needed him for them.
