Slowly and deliberately, I rose. The room tilted, but I locked my knees and breathed through it. I took in a few gasps of air, still glaring at Miller in the process. Miller straightened as I did, matching my height without ever feeling threatened by it. That was the worst part. He didn't need guards, guns, or collars in that moment, he knew he'd already won this round. "Careful," he said softly, as if we were alone. "Your nervous system is still recalibrating. Sudden movements could trigger another feedback loop." "Then stop talking," I said, voice raw but steady. "You're terrible for my health."

I watched him watch me as he was about to press his fist into the big red button that read "Emergency Fire!". I was unable to form words because, I thought about how hot he looked as he stared back at me with such intensity. It just intrigued me. I finally snapped out of my trance, but not because I'd came to my senses, but because I felt a cold sensation running down my body. I blinked about three times before it finally registered that he'd pressed the button and now water was spilling from the roof, and some students were laughing and playing. My breath hitched in my throat as he came closer. "You really should've worn a more, I don't know, a thicker shirt or bra. Because your two lovely friends are standing at attention." as the words left his mouth, realization caught up to me and I flushed with embarrassment and quickly crossed my arms over my chest. Talk about scarred for life! Jerk. Meet Charm Mill, your typical nerdface. She's the smartest girl in school, straight A's, great punctuality.. eveything in the book. She's also the invisible girl. No one notices her. But, for her, that's a great thing. She feels that going unnoticed means less drama, which is correct. But, what happens when Heath Cullen gets himself in trouble because he's not performing the way he should and the principal forces Charm to tutor him? Will this be a ticket to hell or a ticket for the bad boy to find his true love? Copyrighted. ©
