Rice as a symbol of love

Throwing rice at and over the bridal couple comes from the Far East. The tradition of throwing rice has the symbolic meaning of prosperity and lack of want for the bridal couple during their marriage. In addition, throwing rice is the symbol of fertility and the desire for a child-rich marriage. In France they did not throw rice, but grain and in the Far East other symbols of fertility were also thrown at the bride and groom, such as dates and nuts, the symbolic meaning remains the same in all cases.

Apple as a symbol

The apple has been an old love symbol and has stood for love, passion, immortality and fertility for many centuries.

The apple is a love symbol in many cultures. In ancient myths, Dionysus, the god of intoxication, was the creator of the apple, which he bestowed upon Aphrodite, the goddess of love.

In erotic associations, the apple is compared to the woman's breast and the core of the cut fruit to the female genitalia.

Gaia, the goddess of the earth, an apple as a symbol of fertility to Hera at her marriage to Zeus. In Athens, newlyweds shared and ate an apple for a prosperous love life when entering the bridal chamber, and sending or throwing an apple was part of courtship.
