Sherlock and John are spending Halloween in the States. But it's not just a vacation. They are lying low, trying to buy some time and get away from Moriarty until they have a game plan. Meanwhile, they are put on a mysterious case in New York, where, leading up to the days before Halloween, people are being viciously murdered.
