I posted this FF on Ao3 so I thought I'd bring it here and see what you guys think of it.

Merlin has waited centuries for his King to return to him... His first and only true love. He'd loved Freya, but he realized it was different. His dreams soar through each night, only for him to awake alone once more. It's been over fifteen-hundred years of only seeing and touching Arthur in his deepest slumber... Waking in the middle of the night to cry himself back to sleep so he can face each day ahead. Never falling in love again, only lust when the loneliness gets to be too much of a burden to overcome by himself. Each night he begs Arthur... Stay With Me... As he holds his love close only to watch him fade away. Merlin feels as if he'd failed the man he loved and loves to this day. He wonders if the immortal life he's forced to lead is his punishment, waiting for a day that feels as if it will never come since Arthur's destiny wasn't fully realized. Merlin blames himself but has not lost the spark of hope that lives in his heart. It fires his dreams, and they keep him going.

As a child, Arthur understood and supported such a decision... but once the boy aged to become a man, he soon realizes the horrors his father was involved in to bring about the controversial peace he once sought out. The very peace that was responsible for killing thousands of Druids. Thousands of innocent lives. Arthur has finally grown to an age of true understanding, and has decided that his father's ruling must be brought to an end... a timely death... however the chaos of it all is that he now must seek out a specific druid, one that was born of those his father had killed long ago, in order to assist in his own takeover. And what's even more unfortunate is that while Arthur is betrothed to another woman... Guinevere, a woman of true virtue... he cannot shake the feelings he soon develops for a man. A Druid... a Sorcerer no less. Arthur hadn't expected the man to appear with such good looks, nor such mischief and mayhem that could rock the noble's plans of ruling over Britain as its true King.
