The headline is in deep black in all caps, like it's begging for attention. SON OF LOCAL FAMILY LEGACY INVESTIGATED FOR KIDNAPPING AND MANSLAUGHTER. The son in question is John Waite. I quickly skim the rest of the article. In April of 1988, shy-but-smart high school junior Jillian Davys went missing. A month later she was found dead in a drainage ditch.
