The arms race began in Mesopotamia with the invention of composite bows, light chariots and crossbows.
The Persian (Iranian) emperor tried to conquer Athens in 480 BCE but was delayed by the Spartans at Thermopylae while Greek warships destroyed the Persian fleet.
The Macedonian ruler, Alexander the Great, completely destroyed the Persian armies by 326 BCE and established the Greek empire.
Then, between 600 and 200 BCE, a few hundred Greeks revolutionized science, mathematics, medicine, engineering, history, law and philosophy.
Meanwhile, Greeks settlers in Sicily were in conflict with Rome and, by first century BCE, Romans had conquered Greece, Egypt, Carthage and the old Persian empire.
Roman traders made large profits using the Silk Road between Rome, China and India and which created higher incomes though out the Roman empire.
Roman engineers built more than 80,000 km of roads throughout the empire and 800 km of aqueducts in Rome delivered a million cubic metres of water each day.

A Court of Shadows and Heartbreak

By 100 BCE, Chinese were weaving complex silk brocade cloth. In 1804, J. M. A Court of Crystal and Midnight
Cassiopeia Azalea, the daughter of Amarantha and Rhysand, was a child born of torture and sexual assault. To her mother, she was nothing more than a weapon, a tool with immense power provided by her blood to spark fear in those who would question her reign. To her father, she was the light in a world of which he was surrounded by darkness so deep, he felt like he was drowning. His beautiful little girl. Every feature that dawned on her skin was a replica of his. The Mother had blessed him in making his daughter a copy of him instead of his rapist. When the girl was born, Amarantha demanded that she was to be sent away with her father. Rhysand was to name her, raise her, and train her power until it was advanced enough that it could benefit her rule. The High Lord took it upon himself to name her after his brothers, whom he had missed more than life itself, whom he might never see again. This story will follow her life as well as the events of every ACOTAR book and even farther beyond the books. It will take quite some time for this story to be published, so it may follow ACOTAR 6, but I do not know. War for Change
Humanity used to thrive in 2035 until a group of scientists started playing God. This science team was recruited by all the top world leaders and they've begun receiving demands for a super soldier, and they began experimenting on animals, which gave the scientists expected results, but like all experiments, there was a chance for failure. The humanoid animals, or Anthros for short, started getting smarter, faster than the scientists expected, or reacted. The Anthros broke free and took what was left of the 'White Mist,' the substance that created them, and put it into the planet's air supply. Long story short, most animals worldwide have begun transforming into Anthros, and started devastating the world's militaries before attacking cities. Humanity is now facing extinction with their last millions while the Anthro civilization is over 2 Billion strong and counting. The war between Humans and Anthros has lasted for over 50 years, and while humans may be disadvantaged against the Anthros higher strength, speed, endurance, and intelligence, they still beat Anthros with improvisation, adaptability, and tactics. The war has destroyed all four Eastern continents, leaving behind a creature both Humans and Anthros call Reapers, who are husks of the person they were. The Anthros have near complete control over North America and are fighting Humanity in South America, but the main human bases are located on the Hawaiian islands. With death seeming inevitable for human kind, can nothing stop humanity from extinction? Zero has just graduated from high school with good marks and a scholarship.
